Details

The Raleigh dining table has many of my favorite elements all rolled into one. The top has a custom contour that is made from a template and then painstakingly hand-shaped for the perfect feel and look. The underside of the tabletop features a 15-degree soft bevel, which leaves the top edge at 3/4” to 1” thick and gives it a more minimal, streamlined look.

The base was designed to be a harmonious blend between beauty and function. It is solid but doesn’t feel bulky. The stretchers that run between the legs are recessed to allow for maximum legroom, providing lots of space without getting in the way. The legs and frame are made using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. And the oval-shaped legs are a nice companion to the shape of the tabletop and offer a delicate feel to the overall shape. The legs measure 4” in overall width X 3” thick.

Meticulously designed by Diane Lam (https://www.dianelamdesign.com/) and executed by Arbor Exchange, this design took a massive effort and a lot of different people came together to bring this to completion. This dining table was an exercise in patience, determination, and meticulous craftsmanship. Original design takes time and I’m grateful for my wonderful client and her design concepts and for a team of talented folks that helped bring this one together.

Shown in Rift Sawn White Oak (120” long x 42” wide), Black Walnut (100” X 42”), and Hard Maple (84” x 40”).
